Sephora Haul : NYX Soft Matte Lip Cream (SMLC)

This is another p.s. I love Lipsticks moment people. When I first started doing or wearing makeup I was all about collecting single eye shadows and random no brand palettes. My main intention of getting them is simply to decorate the eye lids of mine. Back then, money's worth was my mantra, no high-end cosmetics no hording syndrome....thing were so very normal. I never really invested or took care in buying or so much so trying out different shades of lipsticks.

I used to love mum's Clinique lipstick...they used to come in good sliver coloured sticks. They used to look so majestic and shiny. There were green coloured sticks too...good all days. Mum had mostly red tones. I used to borrow them, only wore lipsticks for special occasions. Who would have thought?...That I too will own more than 1 lipsticks.

Now, I am obsessed with lipsticks and I am adventurous in trying many formulas and colours. Recently, I got 2 sets of the soft matte lip cream trios. I am so so in love with all of the shades from both the sets.

For those of you who don't know, the Nxy Soft Matte Lip Creams comes in 34 beautiful shades. Two of their best sellers are Budapest & Rome.

My trios came with these shades:

From left: Madrid, Ibiza and Budapest

From left: Prague, Milan and Seoul

Each pack was retailed at RM 66.00 and they were sure a value for money. As I said I love them all and they go well with caramel skin tones surprisingly. I was a little skeptic when it came to shades like Milan and Ibiza. They were on the brighter end of pinkish nudes.

Here are some swatches of these shades on my lips, I did not prime nor lighten my lip colour as I normally do prior to applying bright colored lipsticks.

To date, I have only worn Madrid and Budapest, I will soon be doing a first impression review on my blog. If you are thinking of getting them, please do not hesitate or wait any longer. They make great holiday gifts too. Not convinced yet? Here is a mini review on a the colors that I have worn 2 days in a row...junkie much?

Mini review:
They last all day and they are kiss proof. They don't transfer unless you have eaten an oily meal while wearing them. Doesn't dry out the lips or cause flaking. Be sure to allow the first coat to dry prior to applying a second coat. Else the will stick.

Madrid is a beautiful brownish - reddish - maroonish red that makes you feel sexy instantly...or should i say effortlessly.

As for Budapest, it is going to be my go to lip cream, I feel is like a perfect nude for coloured girls. You can wear it for work, play or a night out with the girls. An every day, every occasion kind of color. I would even wear it to bed....that is how much I love Nyx Budapest me ladies.

So, go and get yours today....

First Impression Friday : Maybelline New York - Dream Velvet soft Matte Hydrating Foundation

Today is all about the face, last Tuesday I went as a plus 1 with my husband to his company's Annual
Dinner. The theme was "The Great Gatsby" and I was over the supermoon when I heard about it. There is definitely something about me and dressing up...I just love spending hours of my time playing dress up and putting on makeup. Days before the actual event I tried doing my 20's inspired makeup look to tie both my glittery dress and jewels together.

So for the face, I wanted a light weight foundation that will last me a good deal at the same time maintains the moisture on my face. I bought the Maybelline New York Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydarting Foundation in the shade 90 Honey Beige. This was a friend's finding in Watsons. He is none other than Hari, author of the only male beauty guru that I know. He said that he could blend and work that colour on his skin and I just felt like I could give it a try. If it din't match me, I could always pass it down to mummy dear. She is way way lighter than me.

So here is the look I created for the event... this is the try-out version:

The rave is going to be about this foundation till the end of this blog post, grab yourself some tea and read on.

The Maybelline New York - New Dream Velvet Soft Matte Hydrating Foundation, a mouthful. Is my recent purchase for the drug store - Guardian. I bought it for RM 39.90.

Watson's is having their year end sale and it is only RM 35.91.

They come in 8 different shades and the last 2 is fairly compatible for caramel skin tones.

In US there are 12 shades, we don't have 92 Caramel and 95 Coconut

Product Info:

Size :  Comes in a 12 M Tube - 30 ml 1FL.OZ
Tube Material : Fancy Matte Plastic Tube
Price : Watsons - RM 35.91
Guardian - RM 39 - ish

Products Description:

1st gel whipped foundation. Fresh, new and flawless... Dream Velvet whips fresh gel into a velvet-soft texture. Complexion is perfected and smooth with a soft-matte finish, just like velvet. Skin feels fresh with lasting hydration.

What I liked about it?
Price point, a foundation under RM 40 is definitely a make-up bag essential category for me. Why? I am very forgetful and I don't want to misplace my expensive foundation. Plus is super affordable.

Colour that can be worn by caramel skin tone, it has a very slight brownish orange undertone to it...thus, it make covering black spots or marks easier.

I like the gel texture that changes into a velvety finish, it is not all that mate. I like how it makes my skin/face mildly dewy.

Hydrating and does not make your makeup cake upon powder application. You can do as many touch up as you like. They hydrating properties helps with combining products. So you can mix and match this foundation with other products.

What I don't like about it?
It fills pore and is a good thing but if you have large pores and lines on your face like me, make sure you evenly apply this foundation, else all the foundation is going to get absorbed into your face rather than sitting on it. I had to do a second layer to even out the application and the finish it gave.

Overall Ratings :  4/5, I wore the makeup/look for a good 8 hours and it lasted a great deal. I did not appear on my t-zone and my face felt hydrated. The makeup was on point till I removed it before bed.

First Impression Friday : Bioderma Cleansing Water & Makeup Remover

Hello my dear friends, how was the long holiday and Deepavali celebration? I had a nice and cozy one this year...not the usual insanely busy Deepavali cause hubby dear was working. I had a kutty
(small) meet and greet session with KL & Penang Beauty Bloggers.

We met over IG (Instagram), I practically stalked these Divas.....and now we are good good friends. I love them to the moon and back. Being a Leo I don't have issues talking to people despite the introvert I am. The lioness does like having people at times (I emphasize on the word at times). I will be doing a blog post dedicated to that and give you all the juicy bits of our meet up there.

I am jumping on the First Impression Friday bandwagon. One of my favorite you-tuber/beauty guru does them too... she is none other than Bunny_Grav3yardgirl. I am so sure she in your top notch list too. Here is a link to her channel on You Tube :

I am totally in love with these babies, A while back, I bought these very cute miniature bottles from Hermo. It was a PWP kind of thing. Had I known they were this good I would have bought more of these in much bigger sizes.  The bottles you see in the picture above are in 20ml(s).

There is no such thing about buying another brand after this, unless I find a better formula. Bioderma is a French skin care they do carry a wide range. I have not tried their moisturizers and other creams.
The cleaning water on the other hand comes in 3 formulas.

From the far left Sebium H2O Purifying Cleansing Micelle Solution, middle one is the Hydrabio H2O Moisturising Make-Up Removing Micelle Solution and the last one is the Sensibio Make-up Removing Micelle Solution for Sensitive Skin.

What it does?

Sébium H2O is the 1st specific make-up removing micellar water for combination or oily skin that mimics the natural composition of the skin for perfect make-up removal and total respect for even the most sensitive skin.

Thanks to the Fluidactiv® patented sebo-correcting complex, it biologically regulates sebum quality to keep the pores from becoming clogged and clear up the skin. Enriched with purifying agents, zinc gluconate and copper sulphate, Sébium H2O purifies the skin and limits sebaceous secretion.

Product Benefits:

Gently cleanses and removes make-up without drying out the skin
Purifies the skin and regulates sebum quality
Offers an immediate sensation of freshness

First Impression:

True to it's name, this solution leaves your skin feeling purified. It almost feels like fresh from spa like face. I am loving everything about it, they are all natural, fragrance and paraben free formula. No breakouts post application. Removes make-up very well. One cotton pad could cover your whole face. I use both front and back of the cotton pad. My face feels fresh, sort of like a toner. It's doesn't have alcohol so it doesn't dry the face.

Application ( full face makeup removal) :

First, I wipe off make-up with a wet wipe. Then, wash my face with a cleanser.Lastly, do a second round make-up removal with this solution.

What it does?

Hydrabio H2O is the 1st and only dermatological micellar water perfectly compatible with the skin. Its fatty acid esters, the constituent elements of micelles, are similar to the phospholipids of the skin cell membranes and naturally help rebuild the skin's hydrolipidic film.

Thus, Hydrabio H2O guarantees unrivalled tolerance and comfort for optimum make-up removing efficacy. Moreover, its Aquagenium® exclusive biological patent retrains the skin to activate its natural moisturising capacities by stimulating the production of aquaporins, water channels in the skin, and retain the water it needs to be balanced.

Combines very high cleansing power and unparalleled tolerance
Cleanses and removes make-up from the face and eyes
Soothes and decongests and respects the skin balance

This one is a little too moisturizing for me. In fact, my face felt a little oily on the t-zone. Despite that I like that it makes my face feel so soft and bouncy. It felt like serum application you guys. I think, if you have really really dry skin...this will work miracles on you.

I always wipe off my make-up using wet wipes. Only then I apply this to my face. I don't rise out the face after cleansing with this solution.

What it does?

Sensibio H2O is the 1st and only dermatological micellar water perfectly compatible with the skin: its fatty acid esters, the constituent elements of micelles, are similar to the phospholipids of the skin cell membranes
and naturally help rebuild the skin's hydrolipidic film.

Product Benefits:

Combines performance and very high tolerance
Cleanses and removes make-up from the face and eyes
Soothes and clears up irritated skin
Produces a feeling of instant freshness

This solution is bomb dot com. I am so so in love with the way it makes my face feel. I even use this as a toner as this too doesn't require rinsing. Since I am using it as a toner on a daily basis, I am going to be buying more of this the next round.

Application wise, I use it in the same routine as the other 2 solutions. If you are someone who wears light make-up or no make-up at all you can use these babies as a cleanser cum toner. You will see a difference from the very first use. Can be used to remove both face and eye make-up, even waterproof formulas. No need to get 2 or more types of make-up removers any more.

Let me recap all the goodness this solutions does to my face.

1. Face feels really clean and fresh
2. Doesn't leave my face feeling oily
3. Safe to use it as a toner post washing of the face with other cleansers
4. No adverse reaction when pair with other brands
5. Face is definitely well moisturized after application.
6. No-Rinse formula

As a conclusion, I am giving 5 stars for this range. I am definitely going to repurchase Sebium H2O and Sensibio H2O. I may even try out other products from this brand. You can find them at all leading drugstores and if you love to do on-line shopping, you can get them from HERMO. Prices may vary. HERMO has some good deals and I see many products are out of stock. Go get them ladies, you will never regret nor will you neglect cleaning your face.

It's Skin - New Found Favorite

I am obsessed with shopping and this syndrome only starts during lunch breaks. Recently many on-line retailers have been having Cyber Sale....and I made several purchases from HERMO, ALTHEA & ELIANTO. I felt I got myself good deals from these sites.

I won't be doing a collective haul review this time...I will be doing reviews by brands. The first brand review that I am going to share with you guys is from It's Skin. I am not sure on the number of types of products they have, but I found good reviews on their serum range - Power 10 Formula Effectors. Their website dint really have much details,  online retailers like Hermo  & Althea have done a good job in displaying decent product specification write ups.

I bought 6 bottles. Got 4 from Hermo (RM 28 per bottle) & 2 from Althea (RM 25 per bottle). Althea did not have the Yeast Serum (YE Effector)

Very affordable and comes in 30 ml colorful bottles. They have 10 types to choose from. Each serum contains many skin enhancing ingredients.

I will definitely all 4 serum and infact I may try out the rest. Their top 3 serums are YE Effector, VC Effector and VB Effector. They also have sheet mask for each of these types.

Do check them out and give it a go if you must. Indian skin approved - well at least for me. Hope this review gave you the insights that you needed prior to purchasing them. I did not mix them together, I only alternated the usage.

What's in My Makeup Bag

I am like Doraemon when it comes to having all the things one needs during a travel. Doraemon has an infinite pouch and I have a huge handbag that houses everything….and I mean everything from sunscreen to earphone….books to makeup bag etc.  Is a basic human right to carry a makeup bag for emergency purposes….not medical but makeup emergencies?

What will I do if I have a lipstick meltdown situation or a stray eyebrow calamity at the given moment? What will I do? No compromise….the price you pay for being an over anxious makeup junkie are the weights on the shoulder blades.

My dears friends, I am so sure ….we are in the same boat. I have hence organized ( When is makeup ever a clutter?) my makeup and decided only to take what I really really need…(like 3 lip colours) ….but they are from different formula families…..Let me share with you how I organize my makeup bag and what I carry in them?

1. Go Light
Firstly, pick a makeup bag which is lightweight…this means no fancy bows and buckles or zippers and a light cloth based one will be better. Choose materials that can actually stretch to accommodate the random shapes and sizes of our stash. I got mine from Daiso for RM 5.30.

I bought many small pouches like this one when I had my little Mozie ( Sugar-glider - escape artist) who is lost somewhere in my house. I can’t seem to find it. This is a new pouch…not a rodent infested one. It fills up well and has a generous amount of room to grow.

Want to see the goodies that I can pull out form these tiny & fuzzy baby? You will be surprised.

Now the details of the stash. I have 3 Lip Colours, 1 eyebrow pencil, 1 liquid eyeliner, lip balm, compact powder, foundation and a  sponge, tweezers, mirror, pottu and my dear hubby's lenses.

2. Minimalism
I keep just minimal products needed to "make-up" a bare face and also for touch ups. So you want to throw in products that can give you a flawless appearance when and as needed. Now let's start with the face products:

3. Tubes vs Bottles
When gathering products to fill in your makeup bag always go for products that comes in smaller and lighter packaging. Swap out foundation that comes in bottles with the ones that comes in tubes.
I love the finish, both these products give.

4.Back to Basics
Ditch the brushes and rely on sponges ladies...most face products adheres well when applied with sponges. Do make sure you clean them out regularly or get a disposable one. Once again you save space :).

The other 2 eye products that I have in my bag are a eyebrow pencil & a liquid liner. Properly groomed eyebrows can help to enhance one's features. Once again, choose or pick formulas that comes in a pen  form compared to bottles and brow kits.

5.Mix & Match
Next, I carry 3 types of lip colorants. Liquid lipsticks are my new found addiction and I wear almost on a daily basis. These liquid lipsticks tend to melt after eating, I learned that a good lip-gloss or tinted lip balm can help cover the post meals meltdown madness and it also blends well into the leftover of the liquid lipsticks.

Lastly, I have some makeup bag essentials to save the day.  If you wear makeup on a regular basis, change out your makeup items as needed based on the look you are wearing. Don't keep adding on products to your makeup is a makeup bag not a portable vanity.

By doing this, you can get the max use of you makeup stash and carry items that are really required. I keep the necessary/basic items in and empty out the rest. When you carry a small bag, it forces you not to stuff unwanted items into it. It will also help you pick out makeup that are compact and travel friendly. Remember to keep it minimal and light. Try it these tips and see if they too work for you.
